John's an interesting guy. He was the advisor for the SOF video game and the game designers ended up changing the main character to him. Even visually, albeit when he was much younger. And the CV on the video game is accurate right up to the "Shop" part. John was in about anything scarily dangerous you can name in Vietnam. Also a polite and fascinating guy to have a beer with although you always leave the conversation with the vague feeling that you're glad you're still alive.
